This year I discovered contemporary YA. I'm an escapist reader which is why I like fantasy romance but real life romance has never really appealed to me, I've sort of had this idea that I want paranormal romance, why would I want to read about ordinary people? This year I got rid of that idea. I picked a Katie McGarry book up early this year and loved it to pieces and from then on have discovered a whole new load of books to obsess over. Contemporary stuff in many cases I have found is just as good as the paranormal romance, dystopia and fantasy I love.
According to Goodreads I read 179 books this year, according to Booklikes I've read 182. (Not sure how that works).

Most Anticipated Book of 2014
Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas read not reviewed. 5 stars.
Ever since Crown of Midnight last year I have been dying to get my hands on this book. I purchased 3 copies. A signed paperback, a hardback, and a kindle copy. I had a stare at my phone in utter disbelief moment of fangirl glee when Sarah J Maas actually replied to one of my tweets. And I'm still somewhat torn on where I stand with this book. I gave it 5 stars because the last couple of hundred pages and Manon Blackbeak's story alone were worth five stars. But I had some problems with the middle of the book. This may be because it took me forever to read it. I decided I would take my time because if I read it quickly I would be whining because I had finished and the next one won't be out until next September. I need to do a proper review and reread as well. But this is still my favourite fantasy series.
